First of all I want to thank you all for visiting my blogger! The last 4 months in Korea turned out to be a great time for me. Although I am in the Netherlands now (where I returned safely last Friday), I would like to continue blogging. I am happy that over 200 unique visitors are visiting my bloggers regularly and would be more than happy to continue my blogger. I am preparing for my final Master Thesis project, which I will do in cooperation with Samsung Semiconductors Europe in Frankfurt Germany. I will leave soon for Germany and keep you posted. Please keep in touch and feel free to leave a comment.
For my Korean visitors (Most of the visitors are coming from Korea, after the Netherlands) I found some interesting material from the World Championship Speed Skating 2008, which was held in the Netherlands last weekend. Since most of the Koreans are not really interested in Speed skating I would like to emphasize that Korean's are doing a extremely good job. While last decades Dutch, Norwegian and Canadian speed skaters where dominating the stage, are the Koreans taking over those days!
Lee Kyou-hyuk, 30, of South Korea won consecutive titles at the sprint speed skating world championships in the Netherlands. Lee dominated the ice, winning the 500 meters at the Thialf Stadium in 34.85 seconds, the Associated Press reported, adding that the South Korean then beat Jeremy Wotherspoon, his Canadian rival for the overall title, in the final pairing
of the 1,000 in 1 minute, 8.82 seconds.
The table depicts the top 10 of this World Championship and only shows that three Dutch skaters are out there. And on stage two Koreans. It is only a matter of time and Korea can achieve to fill the top 3 with Korean speed skaters. Dutch skaters better focus on the longer distances, it seems to be incredibly hard to compete against the East-Asians.
Finally, I hope that speed skating is getting more popular in Korea, since those guys are heros in speed skating. For Lee Kyou-Hyuk, I hope that he is getting as popular as Park Ji-Sung and Hiddink......keep on fighting Korean speed skaters!
