IKEA exprience

Whow, the last days could be easily categorized as crazy. Wednesday I visited a graduation presentation at the TU/e and after a quick lunch with some Eindhoven friends I headed to Germany, eager to find proper accommodation in the Frankfurt area......would i find something?!

At that very afternoon I got a phone call from a very kind Dutch lady who was married with a German man and together with two kids (a guy of 20 and a girl of 19 years old) they lived for 21 year in Frankfurt and where happy to offer me accommodation during my room-hunting-attempts. Obviously, I turned out to be a nice stay and I could not wish for a better opportunity to look further for appropriate accommodation for the coming months.

To cut a long story short....I finally found a fantastic apartment which I am sharing with two German guys of about the same age. I could not wish for a better apartment, it is namely 1.5 km to my work and public transport offers quick transportation to the inner city of Frankfurt.

Yesterday night I visited IKEA for the first time of my life. Whow what an amazing experience! This is not just buying some stylish furniture, but from entering the shop till paying at the counter it is one big experience. They seem to have everything, from cheap and simple to expensive and stylish. Now I can understand that families can spend a whole day in an IKEA shop. There is so much to see and you can try everything. There is a whole route through the shop which leads you from living room to kitchen and from sleeping room to bathroom. By writing down your wishes you approach the last trajectory on the route, which is a big warehouse where you pick up your desired products. I was already over 22 o'clock when I left the shop and unfortunately it turned out to be that the IKEA coffee shop was just closed. I left with some cheap but stylish furniture in the Suzuki Alto without finalizing my IKEA experience with an IKEA style cup of coffee......lets go back soon....

Haha, as you know I too moved recently and also went to the Ikea in Utrecht. And indeed, it is an experience, but i was also struck by the user-friendly experience. Everything is very clear, if you found what you want you simply look up there the place it is in the warehouse. You go there and there you see again a picture of the thing you wanted, so you can check it is indeed the thing you wanted. Sometimes it is packed in more than 1 packages and then there are very big and clear signs that you need two (or more) packages. It's nice :).

I completely agree, it is a great concept and now i understand that the guy who is the godfather of this company is one of the richest guys in the world.

Het is echt een schande
dat jij
nog nooit
in de Ikea bent geweest
voor deze keer...

Nice thing of Ikea,
if you loose your kid, they lock up the shop.
